In May of 2024, I had the honor of photographing the beautiful wedding of Triston and Brionna at the picturesque Prairie Hill Vineyard in Colwich, Kansas. The vineyard, with its rolling lush greenery, offered a stunning backdrop for their summer wedding, and the day was filled with love, joy, and unforgettable moments.
However, as is often the case with outdoor weddings, Mother Nature had a surprise in store. During the reception, a dramatic thunderstorm rolled in, knocking out power to the venue and adding an unexpected twist to the celebration. But instead of dampening the mood, the storm became an incredible part of the story of the day. With the power down and the sky darkened by heavy clouds, we embraced the opportunity to capture some truly unique and atmospheric images. The stormy sky provided a moody and romantic backdrop that perfectly reflected the couple’s resilience and the intensity of their love. The soft, diffused light from the clouds added an ethereal quality to the photos, and Triston and Brionna were more than willing to embrace the adventure. They stood together in the rain, their smiles as bright as ever, as if nothing could dampen their spirits.
The rest of the evening was filled with laughter, DJ lights operated from a battery backup, and dancing, as guests continued to celebrate Triston and Brionna's love despite the power outage. It was a beautiful reminder that even when things don’t go exactly as planned, the most important thing is the love that surrounds you.
Congratulations again to Triston and Brionna! Your wedding day was a true testament to the power of love, and I feel so lucky to have been a part of it. Here’s to a lifetime of joy and beautiful memories — storms and all!
